Photo Restoration Services

Photo restoration services is our core business, here at Photo-fixing.com. I do believe, however, that some of you are interested in what exactly is the "magic" we do here. So, here is a short review of the basic steps of photo restoration work that we practice.

How do we do it?

Needless to say that since every photo is unique and different in terms of condition, the steps for a good photo restoration service varies from photo to photo. However, there are some basic steps which tend to do the job in most cases. This short review, embedded with our latest works, introduces the method of adjusting the RGB (stands for Red, Green, Blue) levels separately.

This method is used for 'squeezing' extra details, as much as possible, from a damaged image. This is done using "Histogram" option (I'm referring to PhotoShop in this article. Most of other advanced graphic software share however the same functionalities). Put it simple, Histogram shows the division of the colors (black-white). Thus, the more plate the Histogram is, more colors are presented in the image.

Then, once colors are evenly devided, we zoon in close and take a good look on the photo. This is when we trace dust, texture, tears, scratches, etc. This is how we evaluate the amount of work need to be done, and give a quote accordingly.

The first of work is to correct RGB levels and the Histogram now has most of the image data in the central area – allowing us more raw material to work with.

Once zooming is, we see a lot marks on this picture. There are many ways to repair these. Some prefer to use the history brush but here is our preferred method is to copy the parts need to be restored to a different new what so called "layer", and allow PhotoShop filter to remove this noise. This part is tricky, as removing noise from a photo always compromises its level of details.
